Sustainability & Responsibility

Our Commitment to our customers, our co-owners and our planet.

Hockley Mint, responsibility is woven into everything we do. We are committed to ethical practices, from using responsibly sourced gold to maintaining our RJC accreditation, ensuring the highest standards across our supply chain.

an employee-owned business, we place equal value on our people and the planet. We actively support education, apprenticeships and skills development, helping to inspire and nurture the next generation of jewellers while working towards a more sustainable future for our industry.

At Hockley Mint, we believe that ethical manufacturing and sustainability should benefit everyone—our customers, their end consumers, and the planet. As a certified member of the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC), we adhere to a strict set of standards, ensuring that every piece of jewellery we craft is socially and environmentally responsible. This approach helps us maintain transparency and confidence in the products we deliver, giving both our customers, and in turn their customers, assurance in their ethical sourcing.

Our dedication to sustainability is demonstrated through the use of 100% repurposed gold in crafting our wedding bands, offering a conscientious choice for environmentally aware clientele seeking ethical rings. We believe in creating jewellery whilst staying committed to our company’s core values that care for people and the planet.

We are proud to support Fairtrade Gold, which guarantees equitable compensation for the hard work of small-scale miners, empowering them to improve their lives and communities. Mines certified by Fairtrade adhere to rigorous standards, ensuring workers receive a Fairtrade minimum price while protecting labour conditions, safety, and women's rights, and prohibiting child labour. The Fairtrade Gold Standard also safeguards forests, water sources, and the wider environment, promoting responsible practices throughout.

Similarly, our collaboration with Fairmined reflects our commitment to sourcing gold of responsible origin. Fairmined certification ensures traceability and adherence to the best mining practices, aimed at preserving the environment and fostering the development of artisanal and small-scale mining communities.

As an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT), we also prioritise the well-being of our team, empowering them to uphold our values of craftsmanship and sustainability. Our goal is to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030, and we continually invest in infrastructure and processes that minimise environmental impact.

At Hockley Mint, we are proud to supply jewellery which promises a supply chain that values ethics, sustainability, and responsibility, ensuring that the end consumer receives jewellery that reflects these principles. It’s about making choices that benefit everyone—our customers, their customers, and the planet.

We Use Ethical Gold

At Hockley Mint, we are committed to sourcing gold responsibly and ethically. We are proud partners of Fairtrade and Fairmined gold, helping to protect miners’ rights, promote safe working conditions and support responsible environmental practices within artisanal and small-scale mining communities. We also work with Single Mine Origin (SMO) gold, providing full traceability from mine to market. Alongside our use of 100% repurposed gold options, these practices ensure our jewellery is crafted with integrity, transparency and respect for both people and the planet.

Certified Members of Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC)

We are also a certified member of the internationally-recognised Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC). Their stringent system of checks encourages us to continually improve our internal procedures and monitor our supply chain, ensuring we offer socially- and environmentally-responsible jewellery to our customers.

Carbon Neutral By 2030

Hockley Mint is committed to becoming carbon neutral by 2030, driven by a clear plan to create a more sustainable factory and workplace. Under the leadership of Managing Director Gary Wroe, we are investing in practical initiatives that reduce our environmental impact, including rainwater harvesting to cut water usage and solar panels to generate cleaner energy on site. Alongside this, our smart factory goals are helping us improve efficiency through modern technology, reducing waste and optimising production. Together, these actions reflect our ambition to lead responsibly within the jewellery industry while protecting the future of our people, our community, and the planet.

We use repurposed Gold

Our dedication to sustainability extends to the use of 100% repurposed gold in crafting our wedding bands and signet rings, presenting a conscientious choice for your environmentally-aware customers who seek ethical jewellery.
